Crews Middle School commissioned me for a second freelance opportunity to create another t-shirt for another one of their after-school clubs called Crews Cause For Paws. The after-school club works as a branch of the Homeless Pet Clubs organization and gets students involved in animal rescue and adoption for homeless pets.
Much like when I designed Crews'
Broncobots club t-shirt, the shirt's design needed to accurately represent the school and visually look like the school's existing spiritwear. The Crews Cause For Paws shirt design differed from the Broncobots design insofar that the Cause For Paws club was more humanitarian in nature than the Broncobots club, so it was important to me during the design process that the Crews Cause For Paws shirts reflected such distinction. I chose to not use the existing bronco pictorial logo as the bronco's design was very sporty and aggressive. Instead, a photograph of a mural on a wall inside the school was provided to me, and I rebuilt the bronco graphic in a friendlier light (reference photo below). Also, I chose a typeface for the t-shirt that was reminiscent of DIY posters where fat paint-brushes are used to create the hand-lettering; such a typeface conveys the idea of youthful awareness and grassroots activism.
Immediately below are the final designs chosen by the school; students had the option to choose from one of two different shirt fronts, and the backs of both shirts were the same. The front shirt design with the burgundy lettering and gold paw prints on the front was my initial shirt-front design, and the one with the lettering inside of the giant burgundy paw print was a customer requested front-option. The quote on the back of the shirt was specifically requested by the client. Better photographs of the actual shirts to come.

Below are some of the alternate shirt combinations that were explored that were ultimately not chosen for the shirt design. The Emblem Logo Front design would be paired with the Quote Alternate Back design, and the Breast Pocket Front could be paired with either the final shirt back or the Quote Alternate Back.
